It is almost meant to be an account from a woman's point of view who knows that her husband and older sons have left to go to the front and the hope for the year to pass, until her loved ones come back. The perpetual hope that next Christmas, they might be united again, or next Easter, maybe at the end of the summer, maybe at the next birthday...
We did not change, the deal with Napalm Records was over, and they ripped us off for a few years, so it was time for a dedicated label that suits perfect to ABIGOR: END ALL LIFE! So far we only got positive reaction on our choice, EAL have a good name, a good distribution...
My idea for this self-titled album was an objective of mine for many years, even before Tara was ideologically drafted. Absu is primarily based upon the meaning of the band moniker:
Misanthropy is for those who have given up on life, but are too weak to do anything about it, or too ignorant to see the things that are worth fighting for...
Well it originally started in that I did not have one so I thought okay I'm going to try to making music that sounds like it may be made on a computer but it's not. And I remember that 2 tales really stroke me when I first read it: The Lay of Leithian and the story of Turin...
I decided to create Punch to be able to handle in the best way my music, without having to deal with the annoying problems you usually have with labels run by demented persons, besides I wanted to create a kind of “shelter” for those bands that usually are very hard to label, because of their originality, and who don’t feel comfortable with too sectorialized labels (just not to say “blinded” labels)...
We met Arcana at their hotel lobby, right after their first soundcheck at Le Botanique in Brussels, a few hours before the gig was about to start, and were pleasantly surprised to meet a group of down to earth, warm and very polite people...
I believe that “war and human conflict” is the most stabilizing factor in the world today. I am sure that it is unavoidable that some people will think that we are so concentrated on war simply because war is harsh and leads to the deaths of thousands and thousands of people but for me it is not like that at all. Firstly, war and conflict helps people who normally do not think any further...
