ABYSSAL EPISTLES - The Astrology of Baron Samadhi von Coppockalypse, PHD
Born in Babylon in 3579 BCE to a family of priest-astrologers, he was an impetuous youth. He graduated, with honors, from Babylon University (Go Scorpions!) with degrees in Astrology and Planetary Magic, and a minor in Doom Studies. After a brief career as an advisor to the king, he found himself dissatisfied helping the corrupt monarch plot successful military campaigns, and bored with helping the farmers bring in a good harvest. Through his studies, he found that nature itself was not on the same side as the humans. Wanting to achieve a greater unity with the universe, he sought to become the world’s first “super-villain.” This, of course, meant a lot of time seeking ancient knowledge and fabled artifacts of power. By his first Pluto return in 3321 BCE, he successfully plundered Atlantis, explored the Tunnels of Set, and studied with the Lemurians, finally gaining the knowledge to conquer death and become the worlds first and finest Super-Villain.

A distinguished career followed:

- Caused Trojan War
- Fall of Roman Empire
- Gave Charlemagne massive wedgie

Being a secret force wrapped in shadows has its limitations. The Baron withdrew from the material plane in the late 11th century and settled into a quaint cabin on the astral plane. After centuries of meditation, he has set a new challenge: Us his potent astro-skills to help the humans, despite the obvious futility. Needing a body, he possessed the finest of his descendents and set about spreading his word far and wide. These days the Baron works as a mortal astrologer, dividing his time between writing, teaching, and reading charts.

So here we are.  For many finances have tightened and work is creating more stress than money.  Saturn's movement from Leo into Virgo last September shifted the emphasis from living with integrity to living affordably.

3 big events happen this week.  First, on Wednesday Venus moves into Taurus.  On Thursday, Mercury enters Gemini and after long months retrograde, Saturn stations direct.  Venus' movement into Taurus and Mercury's entry into Gemini are both good things.

Volume 132; Incomplete

After a stressful Full Moon last Sunday, the week plunges into a whirl of activity.  The incomplete energy of a Cardinal T-square pushes the pace while Mercury streaks across the sky at top speed.

Volume 131: Geopathic Stress

The ground underfoot shifts and slides, contorting itself to matches the contours of the emerging situation.   Mercury conjoins the Sun on Wednesday and then marches into Taurus, followed by the Sun on Saturday.  A Full Moon on Sunday finishes the week.

Volume 130; Only so many Bricks

This year’s passage of planets though Aries is more subdued than in most years.  The explodey energy of Aries is unable to find the proper fuel because of the lamentable condition of Mars in Cancer.  Aries is Mars’ samurai, and when Mars is busy eating ice cream and arguing with his mom on the cellphone, there just ain’t much for a samurai to do but make sure the haggen daz is flowing smooth and creamy.    But that’s not what Samurai  like to do.  They like to explode into killing frenzies of righteous awesomeness.

Volume 129; Pleasant Thunder

The Moon moves through its last visible quarter this week, finding its way back to the Sun for an invisible reunion on Sunday.  In the meantime, Mercury crosses the equinoctal border, entering Aries on Tuesday.  Venus follows on Sunday, and Jupiter and Uranus move into a pleasant configuration that will hold throughout the week.

Volume 128; The Style of Elements

As the casual observer of astrology may discover, the Signs of the Zodiac are allotted to the 4 fundamental elements, Water, Earth, Fire and Air.  The proportion and mixture of planets in signs of these elements modifies the psychic atmosphere for the humans.

Volume 127; Coiled Spring

The equinoxes mark the points where day and night are equal in length.  Equi = Equal.  Nox = Night.  Equal Night.  This is also the day that astrologers, since at least the Greeks, have anchored the beginning of Aries to.  It’s spring in the Northern Hemisphere again, with the coiled energies of the season past waiting for a catalyst.

Volume 126; La Sirene's Song

The moon slowly gains weight and light as the lunar month creeps into being this week.
This growing spotlight ahines on one particularly interesting phenomenon: the entrance of both Mercury and Venus, who have been traveling in lockstep since last week, into the sign of Pisces.
